MOSCOW, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Russia's Baltic Fleet would resume testing the new Admiral Makarov frigate after the New Year holiday, the RIA Novosit news agency repoted Tuesday.

"As soon as New Year's and Christmas celebrations are over, state trials of the latest project 11356 frigate Admiral Makarov will continue. Speed and maneuverability trials of the ship will take place, its weapons and aviation complex will be tested," RIA Novosti quoted the Baltic Fleet spokesman Roman Martov as saying.

Special attention would be paid to the propulsion, steering, communication, navigation and mooring systems, the spokesman added.

The Admiral Grigorovich-class frigate is desinged for air defense missions, as well as for anti-submarine and anti-ship opeprations. The testing of Russia's first such frigate was successfully conducted in 2015.
