Indonesia's foreign tourist arrivals grows 10 percent in first eleven months of 2016

JAKARTA, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- The number of foreign holiday makers visiting Indonesia from January to November last year expanded 10.46 percent to 10.41 million people, compared with the same period at the previous year, national statistic bureau said here on Tuesday.

For November, the foreign tourist arrivals rose significantly 19.98 percent to 1 million people from a year earlier, said Suhariyanto, head of the bureau.

"Going forwards, tourism sector is expected to be a new locomotive for Indonesia's economy," he told a press conference at the bureau headquarters.

Indonesia expects 12 million foreign holiday makers coming into the country in 2016.
