DHAKA, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- An early morning fire razed hundreds of shops in a market located at Bangladesh's capital diplomatic enclave Gulshan on Tuesday, destroying goods and property, said a firefighter.
The firefighter who did not like to be named said the fire, which originated at around 2:30 a.m. local time, raged on till 8:30 a.m. local time.
He said 21 units of firefighters have been trying to douse the fire and a portion of the two-storey Gulshan1 DCCI market collapsed.
No casualties have so far been reported.
The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
