PARIS, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Growing sales of French home-made vehicles and resilient performance of foreign brands boosted France's total sales of new units up by 5.6 percent in 2016, figures released by French Car Sales Federation (CCFA) showed on Monday.
Accounting for more than 55 percent of the domestic auto market, sales of French brands increased by 4.2 percent on boosted offer of Renault, France's No. 2 auto manufacturer which sold 7.3 percent more new cars last year, compared with the data in 2015.
PSA, the country's leading car maker, saw its sales up by 1.4 percent over the period, according to the CCFA statement.
Last year, foreign brands also showed an upward trend and provided more than one million new cars to the 66.6 million-population market, it added.
