YANGON, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- A total of 20 miners have been killed and two injured due to the landslide in Phakhant township, Myanmar's jade-mining region in Kachin state, according to the Ministry of Information Thursday.

The 400 feet-high soil cliff collapsed on Wednesday evening at dump soil site near the jade mining area between Lonkhin village tract and Seitmu village tract. A waste-soil carrying vehicle of a jade mine company was also buried.

The rescue operation started only on Thursday morning for fear of next probable landslide, the ministry said.
