RIGA, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- The United States and Latvia have to continue their cooperation to find inclusive security solutions for the Baltic region and the transatlantic space, visiting U.S. senators and Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics agreed at a meeting here on Wednesday.
The three visiting lawmakers were U.S. Republican Senators John McCain and Lindsay Graham, and Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar.
During the meeting, the U.S. senators praised Latvia's commitment to increasing its defense budget, as well as Latvia's continued contribution to strengthening national defense and international security, particularly Latvia's involvement with Afghanistan.
The officials stressed the need to continue the existing cooperation by seeking inclusive solutions in order to improve Baltic and transatlantic security.
The U.S. senators also voiced appreciation for Latvia's reforms that are aimed at ensuring compliance with international standards and reducing money laundering risks.
Rinkevics noted that it is essential that Latvian-U.S. relations remain active and cover all areas of cooperation.
