KABUL, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- A member of Afghan parliament were injured together with four others after an explosion struck his vehicle at a busy road in western part of Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, on Wednesday, police said.

"The roadside bombing hits vehicle of Sayyed Jamaluddin Fakuri Behishti near a Shiite mosque in Dasht-e-Barchi locality at around 09:00 a.m. local time. Behishti, his son, his brother and two passersby were injured by the blast," a police official told Xinhua near the site.

Unofficial sources said that Behishti's brother has later succumbed to injuries at a nearby hospital.

Further details about the incident are still forthcoming amid the absence of any official statement.

Behishti is the representative of central Bamyan province in Wolesi Jirga, the Lower House of Afghan parliament.

"The politicians' vehicle was severely damaged by the explosion. Our criminal investigation police unit is assessing the incident to determine the facts and as more information becomes available, it will be released as appropriate," the police source added.

Local TV channels showed the damaged buildings and cars on the blast site. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

This is the second attack against Afghan legislators in Kabul this month. Last week, eight persons were killed and seven others, including Malim Mir Wali of southern Helmand province, were wounded after three Taliban gunmen stormed Wali's house in western Kabul.
