Czech Republic to ramp up security during Christmas after Berlin attack

PRAGUE, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Czech Republic will ramp up security measures to ensure people's safety during Christmas and New Year celebrations, Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said on Wednesday.

According to Sobotka, the country will not cancel Christmas or New Year celebrations after Monday's lorry attack in Berlin, Germany, that left 12 dead and dozens injured.

After the attack ,the Czech Republic has increased police patrols in busy hubs such as Christmas markets, railway stations and shopping centers.

Sobotka said he would like to assure citizens the Czech government will be doing its utmost in the following days for people to feel safe in the country.
