KATHMANDU, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Tuesday inaugurated a bridge over Karnali River at Hilsa in Humla, a bordering district with Tibet Autonomous Region of China.

The motorable bridge was built with the assistance of China as per the agreement signed between two sides.

The Friendship bridge connects Nepal's one of the remote districts whose headquarters is yet to be connected with the national road network, with China's Burang port in the southwestern region of Tibet, China.

During the inauguration, Prime Minister Dahal said that the bridge would help expand trade between Nepal's impoverished Karnali region and China's Tibet and enhance living standard of people there. "It will also help people going to Kailash Manasarovar, a sacred place for many Hindus in Tibet, through this route," he said.

Nepal has been conducting local trade through the border point, exporting handicrafts, medicinal herbs and farm products to China and importing rice, flour, utensils and electronic products.
