PRAGUE, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Police presence in the Czech Republic will be boosted in public places until the end of the year, Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said Tuesday.
Speaking after a meeting with Interior Minister Milan Chovanec, police chief Tomas Tuhy and intelligence officers, the prime minister said the Czech Republic faces no concrete terrorist threat.
Chovanec said police patrols will be reinforced by several hundred officers, but the military will not participate in the security measures.
If nothing unusual happens, the increased deployment of police could be terminated in the first week of January. If necessary, the police are ready to impose checks on the Czech borders, he added.
Tuhy said so far, only random checks have been made on the Czech borders with Germany and Poland.
The first degree of terror alert has been adopted in the Czech Republic since March 22 following the terror attacks in Brussels.
