NEW DELHI, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj has been discharged from hospital where she underwent a successful kidney transplant.

"I am back from AIIMS after the surgery," Swaraj wrote on twitter besides posting messages thanking people for their prayers and wishes.

"I am seeing the necessary official papers. However, I am not allowed to receive visitors," she wrote on twitter on Monday.

The 64-year-old minister was admitted at India's premier health institute, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), last month following kidney failure.

The doctors discharged her from the hospital on Monday evening.

"Sushma Swaraj has been discharged from hospital at 7:00 p.m. local time after her postoperative uneventful recovery following kidney transplant operation on December 10," a statement issued by AIIMS said.

Many Indians had offered to donate their kidneys to Swaraj after she wrote on twitter that she was put on dialysis. and undergoing tests for a kidney transplant.

Swaraj is one the most high-profile ministers in Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet.
