ZHENGZHOU, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- A fire in a downtown shopping center in central China's Zhengzhou City has been put out and did not cause any casualties, local sources said Sunday.
The fire broke out at about 3 p.m. on the third floor of a department store in the capital of Henan Province. Open fire and black smoke soon engulfed the building.
About 40 fire engines and 200 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. As of 5:30 p.m., the fire had been put under control.
According to the firefighters, 47 people were evacuated and no casualties have been reported. An estimated 1,500 square meters were burned in the fire.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
