BEIJING, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- A 5.1-magnitude earthquake occurred in the sea off Taiwan's Taitung County at 10:14 p.m. Thursday (Beijing Time), the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) reported.
The epicenter was 22.86 degrees north latitude and 121.26 degrees east longitude, with a depth of five kilometers.
A CENC preliminary report put the earthquake at 5.0 on the Richter scale.
Reports of damage and casualties are not immediately available.
