SARAJEVO, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- There are currently 115 citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovia (BiH) fighting in Syria and Iraq, local media reported on Wednesday, citing BiH Security Minister Dragan Mektic.
Mektic revealed the figure in a speech at a session of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly House of Representatives.
According to Mektic, BiH authorities know their names and keep a record of them.
In total, 226 BiH adults are believed to have joined the fighting on the Syrian and Iraqi battlefields, of whom 65 have been killed and 46 have returned so far, added Mektic.
Authorities had investigated all those who returned. BiH introduced a law two years ago which imposes heavy penalties on those who fight abroad or recruit others to do so.
Nearly a dozen of suspects were jailed since then for either fighting for the Islamic State or for recruiting others to do so.
