HANOI, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- As many as 493 Samsung Galaxy Note 7 cellphones have not been recalled in Vietnam, said Vietnam Competition Authority (VCA) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade on Tuesday.
Specifically, a total of 12,633 Note 7 products were in need of recalling across the country due to their battery fault that might cause fire or explosion. So far, the South Korean manufacturer has recalled and refunded 12,140 products from Oct. 18 to Nov. 18, 2016.
In a recent report sent to VCA, the Samsung Electronics Vietnam said it will continue to recall the remaining 493 products till Dec. 31, 2016 at four of its centers nationwide.
According to VCA, there remain risks of fire and explosion caused by Note 7 cellphones although they are used or have been shut down. So the authority urged local consumers who use or own the products to immediately stop using, shut down and return their cellphones to Samsung.
