ASADABAD, Afghanistan, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Two Afghan Border Police (ABP) officers had been killed in an explosion in the eastern Kunar province, the provincial governor said Tuesday.
"Wali Khan Amarkhel, commander of Afghan Border Police 3th Battalion, along with one ABP officer were martyred following an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in Dangam district Monday night," Governor Wahidullah Kalemzai told Xinhua.
He blamed the Taliban militant group for planting the bomb in the district bordering Pakistan.
In neighboring Nangarhar province, four militants of the Islamic State (IS) group were killed after the U.S.-NATO coalition forces conducted a drone attack in Achin district Monday night, the provincial government said in a statement.
The mountainous Achin district has been the scene of heavy clashes between the security forces and IS fighters since early 2015.
