PRAGUE, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- A 39-year-old man was detained on Sunday for making hoax bomb threats in Prague, capital city of the Czech Republic, a police spokesman said.

The man has allegedly made seven anonymous calls to the police on Saturday, claiming bombs were placed at various locations in Prague, including hospitals, squares and the city's main railway station.

The railway station was evacuated after the phone call and traffic at the station was disrupted for about an hour. Police took emergency measures and carried out inspections on these sites.

Police detained the man in Prague's city center on Sunday night. He was accused of scaremongering.

The man had been convicted several times before for scaremongering and extortion, according to Czech police.

In November 2014, he threatened to detonate a bomb at Vaclav Havel airport in Prague if his demand to have a watch worth 20,000 crowns (779.62 U.S. dollars) is not met. He was arrested on the same day to make the hoax bomb threat.
