NEW YORK, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale jolted 78km SW of Kirakira, Solomon Islands at 21:38:23 GMT on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 13.99 km, was initially determined to be at 10.9442 degrees south latitude and 161.4025 degrees east longitude.
