Wushu team of Kyrgyzstan to win more medals at international arena: Coach

BISHKEK, Dec. 9 ( Xinhua ) -- Krgyzstan's national team of martial arts is tuning up to win more medals in the next World Traditional Wushu Championship in China, said Lyubov Seryakova, senior coach of the Federation of Traditional Wushu of Kyrgyzstan on Friday.

Seryakova told Xinhua that Kyrgyzstan has won 45 medals, including 14 golds, 13 silvers and 18 bronzes at the II International Wushu Tournament in Almaty, Kazakhstan on Dec 3-4, which featured athletes from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia and China.

This was not the first such victory of the Kyrgyz team, she said.

"Since 2010, Kyrgyz team of traditional wushu have been taking part in various international competitions and won many medals, including gold, silver and bronze," Seryakova said.

Seryakova highlighted the contribution of Chinese master Li Jianpin, who lived in Kyrgyzstan for seven years and now backs home to Sichuan province.

"The Kyrgyz sportsmen were trained by world and China's champion, former captain of Chinese national team on traditional wushu Li Jianpin while he was in Kyrgyzstan. And now we go to China to seminars of master Li Jianpin, he teaches us his style," she said.

The senior coach said they are preparing to participate in the VII World Traditional Wushu Championship to be held at Emeishan, China.
