Food variety in Swedish shops twice as big as in Norway: report

OSLO, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- The National Institute for Consumer Research (SIFO) in Norway said that there was a big difference in food product range between Norwegian and Swedish food shops, newspaper Aftenposten reported Thursday.

One of the biggest differences were among cheese products, fresh sausages and milk products range.

"There is a disturbing difference between the range Norwegians have access to in their shops and that Swedes have," Randi Flesland, director of the Norwegian Consumer Council, told Aftenposten.

The SIFO report showed that Norwegian food shops have 55 percent of the range in Sweden in the 14 food groups analyzed.

Swedish shops have more than twice the variety of fresh sausages, fresh bread, cheese, pasta, coffee and water than the shops in Norway.

Norwegian food chains have improved their product range by 20 percent since 2010.
