A few cabinet members named privy councilors under Thailand's new King

BANGKOK, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn on Tuesday named a few cabinet members as privy councilors while reappointed seven former councilors, according to the Royal Gazette.

Education Minister Dapong Ratanasuwan and Justice Minister Paiboon Koom chaya as well as former army chief Teerachai Nakwanich are the new members of the Privy Council.

Dapong was deputy army chief and Paiboon was assistant army chief. The duo, both cabinet members, are expected to be replaced shortly in a cabinet reshuffle.

Compared to a total of 16 members of a previous Privy Council, there are now 11 in the current Privy Council, headed by former regent Prem Tinsulanonda who has returned to the position of Privy Council head which he had held on for decades.
