Indonesian foreign minister travels to Myanmar to discuss Rohingya issue

JAKARTA, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi departed for Myanmar on Tuesday to meet Myanmar's State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, discussing the developing condition in Myanmar's Rakhine state.

Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arrmanatha Nasir said that the departure of Indonesian foreign minister was under the invitation of Suu Kyi, adding that the two will have a closed-door meeting.

"She (Suu Kyi) asked for Minister Retno's presence in Naypidaw. She said that she would directly convey the information about the fact that occurred in Myanmar and the state's plans to deal with that," Arrmanatha said in a statement.

Nasir added that Minister Retno is also scheduled to meet ambassadors of several nations in Myanmar.
