KIEV, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Ukrainian Agriculture Ministry has raised its forecast for this year's grain and legumes output, increasing prospects for boosting exports, local media reported Monday.
According to the new forecast, Ukraine's grain and legumes harvest would rise by 6.6 percent this year to 64.2 million tons, against the previous estimation of 62.3 million tons.
In particular, the harvest of maize is projected to rise by 12 percent to 26.1 million tons, while barley production is expected to increase by 14.5 percent to 9.5 million tons.
In the same time, the output of wheat is projected to slightly fall to 26.1 million tons.
Ukraine, which reaped 60.2 million tons of grain and legumes in 2015, has supplied abroad 39.5 million tons in the 2015-2016 marketing year, the highest exports amount ever reported.
