No casualties reported from Tibet earthquake

BEIJING, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- There have been no casualties reported following a 5.1-magnitude earthquake in a county in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region on Monday morning.

The earthquake was recorded in Nyainrong County at 5:34 a.m., the epicenter was at a depth of about five kilometers, according to China Earthquake Networks Center.

Chamdoi, Nyainrong Communist Party of China chief, told Xinhua that a preliminary investigation uncovered neither humans nor livestock casualties, and no homes have been damaged. "The tremor only lasted for seconds," he said.

Located about 4,700 meters above the sea level, Nyainrong has a population of around 20,000.
