WARSAW, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Poland and Ukraine on Friday criticized the European Commission's decision on the OPAL pipeline, saying the two nations were affected by the decision and it should be revised.

The decision violates the European Union-Ukraine association agreement settlements and shakes the Central and Eastern European region energy security policy, according to a joint declaration by Polish President Andrzej Duda and his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko, who was visiting Warsaw.

The decision on the OPAL pipeline, unveiled on Oct. 28 by the European Commission, allowed Russian gas company Gazprom to increase the gas transportation without passing the Ukrainian territory.

Poroshenko said he discussed with Duda a possibility of building an inter-connector so that European gas could be transported to the Ukraine.

The OPAL is a natural gas pipeline in Germany alongside the Polish-German border. It connects the Nord Stream pipeline, which is placed at the bottom of Baltic sea, with Europe's gas transportation network.
