SINGAPORE, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- "Mulan The Musical", an original and inspiring Chinese theatrical production from China's Taiwan which showcases a blend of uplifting music score, witty dialogue, live singing and hilarious comedic elements, will be presented at Singapore's Resorts World Theater for 36 shows from Dec. 16 to Feb. 5, 2017, announced the theater group on Friday at the media preview.
Based on the timeless classic tale of Hua Mulan, "Mulan The Musical" will deliver a refreshing reboot, playfully subverting the familiar storyline and promising hilarious twists and turns while celebrating the themes of feminist empowerment, courage to defy social conventions, enduring love, and the kinship that binds.
Given a fresh Singapore adaptation, "Mulan The Musical" heralds Resorts World Sentosa (RWS)'s first-ever collaboration with Tainaner Ensemble, one of most recognizable and progressive theatrical companies from China's Taiwan and Studio M, which is known to be at the forefront of experimental musical productions.
This year-end production also marks RWS's foray into offering Chinese productions that will attract the regional Chinese-speaking audiences as well as contribute to the growth of the local Chinese theater and entertainment scene in Singapore.
According to RWS's Vice President for Resort Sales and Entertainment Khoo Shao Tze, more creative elements have been added to this original Singapore version including new scenes and songs.
"It will be a delightfully funny show interspersed with unexpected comedic timings, catchy tunes, emotive singing and colorful characters played by popular industry veterans," said Khoo.
