COLOMBO, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Tropical cyclone Nada in the south-west of the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rains in many parts of Sri Lanka in the coming two days, the Meteorology Department said here on Thursday.

The Department said that Nada is now located around 200 km to the north-east of Kankasanturai coast, in the north, and it is expected to move north-westward.

It is likely to cross the Northern Tamil Nadu coast, in south India, later on Thursday.

Under the influence of this system, very strong winds and heavy showers are expected in the Northern, Eastern and North-central provinces of Sri Lanka, the Meteorology Department said.

Heavy rains of about 75 mm can be expected at some places while showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere.
