ANKARA, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Turkish army lost contact with its two soldiers on Tuesday during Operation Euphrates Shield to sweep Islamic State (IS) in northern Syria, Turkish General Staff said in a statement.
The contact was lost at 3:30 p.m. local time (1230 GMT), said Brigadier General Ozkurkcu, press spokesman of the Turkish army.
He said search operations were underway for the two missing soldiers in the area.
Earlier on Tuesday, the IS claimed via its affiliated Amaq News Agency that it captured two Turkish soldiers.
The Turkish military has yet to give any confirmation of the claim.
