Wreckage of missing army chopper recovered in Indonesia

JAKARTA, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Rescuers have recovered the wreckage of an Indonesian army helicopter, which lost contact when it was passing above Borneo Island on Thursday, Brig. General Wuryanto, military spokesman disclosed here on Sunday.

One out of five persons on board survived the crash, the spokesman said.

"The chopper crashed and there is one person still alive," he told Xinhua by phone.

The chopper issued a signal of emergency locater transponder (ELT), which helped rescuers in its recovery, Wuryanto said.

The copper, which departed from Juwata airport in Tarakan town of the North Kalimantan province about noon time Thursday, was carrying logistics for soldiers guarding the borders between Indonesia and Malaysia in North Kalimantan province of the island, he said.
