Germany's benchmark DAX index closes up on Thursday

FRANKFURT, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Thursday gained 26.82 points, or 0.25 percent, and closed at 10,689.26 points.

The German statistics office Destatis reported on Thursday that German gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.2 percent in the third quarter of 2016 compared with the previous quarter.

German Ifo business climate index stayed firm. The businesses' assessment of the current situation rose to 115.6 from 115.1, indicating that german enterprises are optimistic on the current economic trend.

Despite of the optimistic economic data German investors stayed cautious, as the U.S. stock market closed on Thanksgiving and couldn't provide orientation for DAX.

The health care company Fresenius advanced the most by 1.83 percent, followed by FMC and Volkswagen.

Germany's largest semiconductor producer Infineon dropped the most by 2.56 percent with a slightly disappointing forecast for the next year in its financial report.

Bayer was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 139.43 million euros (147.07 million U.S. dollars).
