VIENNA, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Austrians are anticipated to spend two-to-three percent more on their Christmas shopping this year, a new report from the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) claimed Thursday.

The report said the optimistic outlook for the month of December is in part due to an improved consumer mood from the effects of tax reforms implemented this year, the increased disposable income expected to result in a subsequent increase in spending.

In addition the public holidays fall favourably for retailers, creating more shopping days than the statistical average.

The WIFO report said retail spending in Austria for the month of December is typically up to a quarter more than what is spent throughout the remainder of the year.
