ASTANA, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev has no plans to make his children his successor. He made the remarks recently during his interview with Bloomberg.

The Kazakh president said that the transfer of authority is stated in the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and will occur in accordance with the fundamental law of the country. "I'm not envisaging succession for my children, I don't think that's a question for us," Nazarbayev said. He also stated that he is full of health and energy and would continue work until 2020. Nazarbayev noted he'll decide whether to seek a new term based on his health and the level of public support.

Nazarbayev has been the country's leader since 1991, when he was elected the kazakh first president following its independence from the Soviet Union in December 1991. Since then, Nazarbayev has been re-elected president so far.

Nazarbayev has three daughters. Rumors about Nazarbayev's handing the power to his family members appeared after his daughter Dariga Nazarbayeva was elected the chairman of Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Security in September 2016. Dariga Nazarbayeva earlier served as Vice Prime Minister in the former government.
