WARSAW, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Dialogue Centre Upheavals in a national museum in the Polish city of Szczecin won the World Building of the Year 2016 award at the World Architecture Festival, the Polish museum reported on Saturday.
The Dialogue Centre Upheavals is part of the National Museum in Szczecin, and was designed by Polish architect Robert Konieczny, principal at KWK studio.
The competition's international jury chaired by architect David Chipperfield stressed in the verdict that the Dialogue Centre Upheavals enriches the city and city life.
"This is a piece of topography as well as a museum ... a design which addresses the past in an optimistic, poetic and imaginative way," Chipperfield said.
The Szczecin museum's branch was selected from 16 other projects and also won in the culture category. In July 2016, the building also won the European Prize for Urban Public Space 2016.
