FUZHOU, China, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Rio Olympic champion Chen Long and bronze medalist Viktor Axelsen romped over their opponents in quarterfinals of BWF China Open on Friday and will show the encounter in-betweens on Saturday.

World ranking 2nd Chen Long took the win against Ajay Jayaram from India 21-15, 21-14, while the third-seeded Axelsen only took 30 minutes to crash out the Japanese Takuma Ueda, 21-11, 21-6.

Chen has a dominant head-to-head history of 8-1 against Axelsen. The Danish's unique win was at last year's Dubai World Superseries Finals. The 22-year-old Axelsen will have the chance to revenge after losing the match at Rio.

"Axelsen speaks good Chinese and we often have communications. I'm looking forward to play well tomorrow and hopefully he will keep good form too," said Chen.

The 19-year-old Chinese He Bingjiao, three BWF titles winner in previous tournaments, lost to Indian Pusarla V. Sindhu, 20-22, 10-21, and did not step further in the women's singles game.

"I play well in the first set but lost points too rapidly in the second. Sindhu had very strong offense and I'm not sure what happen to me in the second set. We played very close in the previous encounters in France and Demark, but her victory came too easily tonight," said He.

Sindhu comments on her opponent, "I think it is a good game overall and He Bingjiao played very well. Back to french open she won against me and in Denmark I won against her. She has very good strokes and flicks. Her move is very soft. She will definitely come up in the future."

Top seeded Carolina Marin from Spain was stopped by Tai Tzu Ying from Chinese Taipei, 10-21, 20-22 in the women's singles game. Top seed in the men's doubles Hong Wei/Chai Biao edged Danish duo Mads Conrad Petersen/Mads Pieler Kolding, 20-22, 21-19, 21-18.

Chinese women's pair Luo Ying/Luo Yu took an hour and a half to seal the victory against Shizuka Matsuo/Mami Naito from Japan. Huang Dongping/Li Yinhui, eliminating world No. 1 Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi on Thursday, kept strong move and beat Bulgaria twin pair Gabriela Stoeva/Stefani Stoeva, 21-16, 21-10.

In the mixed doubles, Zhang Nan/Li Yinhui defeat compatriots Zheng Siwei/Chen Qingchen who won three champions in the previous tournaments in France, Japan and Germany weeks ago. Enditem
