BISHKEK, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan plans to introduce entry cards for foreigners who visit the country, Kyrgyz Deputy Justice Minister Mahamadzhan Iminov said Thursday.

As Kyrgyzstan has recently introduced a mandatory registration for foreigners, exact records on foreign citizens entering Kyrgyzstan are needed, Iminov said.

"People can cross borders with two documents, first with foreign passports and second with ID cards. We can put stamps on foreign passports and thus track crossing dates, but with ID cards this isn't possible," he said.

"Therefore, we proposed to use the practice of our neighbor Kazakhstan -- migration cards. But we prefer to call them entry cards," Iminov said.

With the help of such cards, Kyrgyzstan's State Registration Service (SRS) intends to track how many days a foreigner spends in Kyrgyzstan.

On Nov. 4, Kyrgyzstan introduced a mandatory registration for foreign citizens. Foreigners who will stay in the country for more than five working days should be registered with the SRS, but citizens of Russia may stay up to 30 days without registering.
