TAIYUAN, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Four workers died in a blast Sunday at a quarry that tried to cover up the incident, authorities in northern China's Shanxi Province said Wednesday.
The accident occurred around 11 a.m. Sunday at the Leixin Quarry in Wenshui County, Lyuliang City, according to a county government statement.
The case was not disclosed until whistleblowers reported it to the government, the statement said.
Authorities are checking the death toll, as well as investigating the cause of the accident and details of the attempted cover-up.
