BANGKOK, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Passenger flights between Thailand and Russia will be largely increased to promote bilateral tourism.
Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisit said on Tuesday the Thai government has approved the increase from 70 to 105 flights per week between Bangkok and Moscow and from 28 to 56 flights per week between Bangkok and St. Peterburg.
The transcontinental flights will stop over in China's cities, namely Changchun, Harbin, Shenyang and Chengdu, Arkhom said.
An estimated 1.1 million Russians are expected to visit Thailand throughout this year, accounting for a 24 percent increase from last year.
Favorite destinations for the Russian travelers include the famous seaside cities of Pattaya and Phuket.
