SARAJEVO, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Denis Zvizdic, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), on Wednesday hailed the assessment report by the European Commission regarding the integration process of BiH.

"The report that we received this year is much more positive than the one from last year," said Zvizdic after he received the EU's 2016 report on BiH from the head of EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH Lars-Gunnar Wigemark.

"BiH's progress towards European integration is noticeable. We have realized the majority of the commitments and all levels of government continue to stand behind this as a key objective of the country," added Zvizdic.

Wigemark said that the report can be a good basis for future work in BiH, but also pointed out that a lot remains to be done on its path towards the EU.

"EU accession is a process that involves the entire society. No one can remain immune to the inevitable changes. A lot of work lies ahead. The EU will continue to support BiH," Wigemark told a joint press conference with Zvizdic.

The report said BiH has made some level of preparation in the fight against corruption, and that some progress was made with the adoption of action plans at various levels of governance, but their fragmentation makes implementation less effective.

Regarding the fight against organized crime, BiH has made some level of preparation. Some progress was made notably to improve inter-agency cooperation. However, financial investigations need to be stepped up, the report stressed.
