SOFIA, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Maj. Gen. Rumen Radev backed by the Bulgarian Socialist Party will face Tsetska Tsacheva of the GERB party in Sunday's presidential runoff, according to final results announced on Wednesday.

Radev won 25.44 percent of the vote in the first round, compared with 21.96 percent for Tsacheva, the Central Electoral Committee announced.

They became the top two candidates among the 21 contenders in the first round of the presidential race.

Under the country's electoral law, a candidate has to win more than 50 percent of the vote to be elected president.

The Bulgarian president is perceived by many as a ceremonial figure but the post is aspired by all parties because the president is the commander-in-chief of the country's armed forces and has prerogatives such as the appointment of a caretaker government and dissolution of parliament.
