SYDNEY, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Australian share market has closed flat.

At 1603 local time (AEDT) on Tuesday, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was up 1.7 points, or 0.03 percent, at 5,252.50, while the broader All Ordinaries index was up 6.40 points, or 0.12 percent, at 5,337.30.

CMC Markets chief analyst Ric Spooner told Xinhua the market closed flat as traders were cautious and quiet as the U.S. presidential election approached.

"Commonwealth Bank of Australia results which had its cash earnings unchanged was solid but uninspiring... failing to impress the market," Spooner said.

At the close, ANZ was down 0.22 percent, the National Australia Bank fell 0.34 percent, Westpac declined 1.05 percent, while the Commonwealth Bank of Australia tumbled 0.95 percent.
