TOKYO, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares opened higher on Tuesday as the U.S. stock market was cheered by growing chance of Hillary Clinton to win presidency in U.S. election.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 53.88 points, or 0.31 percent, from Monday to 17,231.09.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 5.33 points, or 0.39 percent, to 1,368.13.
Gainers were led by precision instrument, insurance and rubber product issues.
