Malaysia's foreign reserves stand at 97.8 bln USD

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's central bank, Bank Negara, said Monday that its international reserves amounted to 405.5 billion ringgit (97.8 billion U.S. dollars) as of Oct. 31, 2016.

The international reserves consist of 89.9 billion U.S. dollars in foreign currency reserves, 0.8 billion U.S. dollars in International Monetary Fund (IMF) Reserves Position, 1.1 billion U.S. dollars in Special Drawing Rights (SDRs), 1.6 billion U.S. dollars in gold and 4.4 billion U.S. dollars in other reserves assets.

Its reserves position is sufficient to finance 8.4 months of retained imports and is 1.2 times the short-term external debt, the central bank said.
