KIEV, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Kiev is holding talks with NATO over a possible assistance in the introduction of the innovative C4ISR command-and-control system in the Ukrainian armed forces, a senior Ukrainian parliament official said recently.

"We are trying to negotiate about the need of introduction of the C4ISR command-and-control system in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. That would be a real revolution for our army," Iryna Friz, the head of the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, told reporters.

The C4ISR -- command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance system, can ensure the development of Ukraine's security and defense sectors according to the standards of the 21st century, Friz said.

She emphasized that NATO's support for Ukraine, particularly under a Comprehensive Package of Assistance approved in July, has already helped Kiev to step up implementation of reforms in its security and defense sectors.

The establishment of the C4ISR system is a part of the Strategic Defense Bulletin of Ukraine -- the roadmap for the country's development of defense sector by 2021.

Ukraine is not a member of NATO, but closely cooperates with the alliance and participates in NATO's Partnership for Peace Program.
