Source: Xinhua   2016-11-03 22:25:46

RAMALLAH, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian man on Thursday after he attempted to stab Israeli settlers close to the city of Ramallah, reported Israeli media.

Israeli public radio, quoting Israeli security officials, reported that Israeli soldiers opened fire and killed a Palestinian man after he attempted to stab a group of Israeli settlers at the crossroad leading to the settlement of Ofra, east of Ramallah.

The radio added that no injuries were reported among the settlers, and that the identity of the Palestinian remains unknown with no one claiming responsibility yet for the attack.

Meanwhile, Ramallah's Palestinian health ministry said in a statement that the Israeli side informed the Palestinian liaison officers about the Palestinian man who was killed.

Earlier this week, two Palestinians were killed in two separate shooting and car run-over attacks in the West Bank, injuring four Israelis, one critically.

Since Oct. 2015, a wave of violent tension has been ongoing between Israelis and Palestinians in Palestinian territories and east Jerusalem.

During this tension, 340 Palestinians and 42 Israelis were killed.
