HANOI, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- A total of 171 companies from 13 countries and regions are participating in the 28th Vietnam Hanoi Textile and Garment Industry Expo 2016 (Hanoitex 2016) which opened in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Wednesday.

During the four-day event, companies from China, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea among others will showcase all types of equipments in yarning, weaving, dyeing, automatic embroidery-sewing lines as well as automatic cloth measurement and cutting machines, designing software, materials, fabric, fiber among others.

The exhibition will provide a chance for local companies to make choices among new technologies and equipments from developed countries, said Cao Quoc Hung, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade at the opening ceremony in Hanoi on Wednesday.

According to Le Tien Truong, general director of Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group, in the past years, Vietnam's garment, textile sector has enjoyed two-digit growth.

In 2015, the country earned some 27.3 billion U.S. dollars from garment, textile exports. The figure is targeted to reach 30 billion U.S. dollars in 2016.
