DHAKA, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Customs officials in Bangladesh's main airport in capital Dhaka has seized gold bars and chains weighing 14 kilograms, an official said Wednesday.
The Customs Intelligence Department official who preferred to be unnamed told Xinhua that "we've seized 18 gold bars and 183 gold chains weighing 14 kilograms from a cargo plane of Singapore Airlines after it landed at at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday night."
No one was arrested in connection with the seizure of the gold bars and chains worth about 140 million taka (about 1.75 million U.S. dollars), he said.
Acting on a tip off, the official said customs officials seized the shipment, which was imported declaring garment products.
