ABUJA, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Nine people were killed early Tuesday when a vehicle exploded in the city of Maiduguri, capital of Nigeria's northeastern state of Borno, local police said.
The vehicle exploded near a military checkpoint along Gubio road in the metropolis, Victor Isuku, spokesman of the Borno State police, told Xinhua.
Terror group Boko Haram is suspected to be responsible for the blast.
According to preliminary investigation, the police spokesman said a van, having all nine persons on board, emerged from a bush path to join the road to Gubio town, when it exploded.
