HANOI, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- A labor force survey will be conducted across Vietnam in 2017 to provide data for development of Vietnam's human resources, according to deputy head of the General Statistics Office (GSO) Nguyen Van Lieu on Monday.
In addition to participation of local people aged from 15 years old and above in labor market, the survey will collect information on employment in the agricultural sector, employment status and waiting time for jobs to serve the trial application of the international standards on employment as suggested by the International Labor Organization, reported Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA.
According to the official, statistics supplied by the survey will be an important basis for Vietnamese policy-makers to review and decide issues related to social-economic development strategies as well as business and investment in each region and locality.
According to the GSO, as of the end of 2015, the country had more than 69 million people aged from 15 and above, with the workforce numbering 54 million.
Some 53.5 million laborers are estimated to be employed while around 1.09 million are unemployed, 23 percent of whom are young people, said the GSO. Enditem
