YANGON, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- The export value of jade and other mineral resources of Myanmar declined by over 200 million U.S. dollars in the first half of this 2016-2017 fiscal year, according to the figures of the ministry of commerce Saturday.

The export value reached 518.421 million U.S. dollars as of Oct. 21 this fiscal year while that of the same period of last fiscal year was 771.917 million U.S. dollars.

This decline resulted from the decrease of jade export over the past six months, official media reported Saturday.

Myanmar's jade is mainly exported to China and India. China is the biggest purchaser of Myanmar's jade.

Myanmar has the potential to export more mineral resources as the country has been eased from U.S. sanctions early this month, said an official of Myanmar Gems and Jewelry Entrepreneurs Association.
