MOSCOW, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- All the eight humanitarian corridors remain open and are running around the clock for the evacuation of civilians from Syria's Aleppo and delivery of water and food to the besieged city, a senior Russian military officer said Friday.

"All possible measures to stabilize the situation are being undertaken. We are ready to consider any proposals to improve the situation in Aleppo, including introducing humanitarian pauses," Sergey Rudskoy, chief of the Russian General Staff Main Operational Directorate told reporters.

He also warned that the corridors should not be used by rebels in eastern Aleppo to achieve their goals.

Russia and Syrian government troops have ceased airstrikes on Aleppo to guarantee the safe exit of civilians and militants, as well as the rescue of the injured and sick from the contested city.

The humanitarian pause have barely held as militants reportedly launched attacks during the truce and took advantage of the cease-fire to regroup or rearm.

Rudskoy blamed Washington for the failure, saying the U.S. and other countries concerned had not exerted appropriate influence on the so-called moderate opposition in eastern Aleppo.

Rudskoy added that the Russian military has appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin to resume airstrikes on illegal armed groups in eastern Aleppo as "civilians continue to die, militants have renewed active hostilities."

However, the presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Putin has turned it down as the Russian leader believes it is "inappropriate at the current time to resume airstrikes on Aleppo."

"We reserves the right to use all means at our disposal to provide proper level of support to Syrian forces," Peskov added.

Earlier on Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry held a phone conversation over efforts to normalize the situation around Aleppo, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The two sides agreed to consider approaches in line with their previous agreements, while Moscow reiterated its position that Washington should finally separate moderate opposition from terrorist groups in Syria, the ministry said in a statement.
